Marrying Machines by Count Ninjula

DJ / Producer Count Ninjula is the most dangerous thing to come out of the Los Angeles Underground since the A-Team. He was gracious enough to let me direct the official music video for his track “Marrying Machines”. Check it out here and download the MP3 here.

True story: No, we didn’t shoot in some weird future America overrun by Japanese people. We just lucked out that everyone on the street that day was almost all Japanese. Weird. I know.

FEAR a scrapbook by Dekker Dreyer

My new book is almost ready to drop. It’s the first art book I’m releasing in the states and I’m very excited.

It’s hardcover, large format, and full color. The book pushes together my photography, art, and writing into 100 glossy pages.  MSRP $35.99. There’s little narrative, lots of stream of consciousness. I’ll post more preview pages when they’re cleared.

My graphic novel, Wilderness, is set to release later this year with an extended preview available at Wondercon.

Here’s the first preview page again, in case it gets lost in the blog.

Wilderness. More to come.

Friction Surf and Skate, L’Aldila, Mondo Atomic

Hi everyone! Sorry for the long time and no blogging. You can always find me on Twitter and Facebook. Just an update…

I started a restaurant called L’Aldila, in Cassadaga Fl. You can read about it here. I have subsequently been bought out of it, but it still lives on. I’m very proud of what I set up and the mood that will continue long after any of the people involved are gone.

That leads me to my next venture… Friction Surf and Skate! It’s an active sports shop in Florida and carries brands I love like Mystery, Rogue Status, Famous, DTA, Dunkelvolk, and more. We’re also the home store of Jeremy Johnston, 2011 Western Atlantic Surf Series Champion. The store is also innovating the retail space by using telepresence software, like Facetime, to allow shoppers from all over the world to browse our actual inventory, talk with human sales reps, and place orders.

Last piece of news is that Mondo Atomic Plan 9 is now available on graphicly, so go grab your copy now!

Holidays are right around the corner and so is more news.

L’Aldila Cassadaga

I guess I’m no longer a part of L’aldila Restaurant in Cassadaga. It really bothers me. I loved all of the people in the Cassadaga Hotel (and still do). My wife and I built that place from the ground up, refinishing the bar, placing the vines, I hand-painted the signs. I truly loved it. I’ve always been interested in the occult and Cassadaga was the only place I would’ve ever considered placing L’Aldila.

My partners and I aren’t on speaking terms. They’re not interested in the metaphysical, they’re interested in a quick buck. I feel sorry for them knowing that the very special things around them will never bring them joy, but they got what they wanted. Me out and them in. Greed pure and simple.

If you visit L’Aldila, please ask about me. To all my Cassadaga friends, I’ll miss you dearly, but I can’t even stop in for a visit. It hurts too much.

I’ve signed papers that should remove me from their business, as I’ve already seen too many things I don’t care for in how they treat their employees, etc and don’t want to be a part of it. I’ve opened and closed a lot of businesses and I’ll NEVER allow that kind of awful treatment of employees to go on under my watch. Forcing kids to clean mold without a mask! Screaming at unpaid volunteers!

Pietro Capuano, Vincenzo Capuano, and Chad Schilsky should all be ashamed of themselves. Karma is a killer.
