Hirschfeld 3 Book Set

harlem.jpg I don’t think I’ve blogged about it, but it’s common knowledge that I’ve been involved off and on with The Working Arts Library and I’m close friends with publisher Glenn Young. Glenn and I try to have dinner together at least once a month and we always have some interesting anecdotes to tell each other.

Glenn produced three Hirschfeld books and they’re all wonderful. I own them as a set. He’s now selling them direct as a group, for a limited time, on his website here. The books are a steal at what amounts to nearly 50% off the cover price.

For those who don’t know, Al Hirschfeld is one of the most influential illustrators of the last century. His caricature style is one of the most widely recognized and iconic. He’s most famous in high-brow sets for his work with Broadway stars, but he’s equally well known in pop culture for work like the album cover to Aerosmith’s “Draw the Line”.
