steven@buffalo8.com Phantom Astronaut (Dekker Dreyer) is an artist working in film, music, visual art, & immersive media. His projects typically focus on folklore, dreams, consciousness, technology, and the connections between them. He’s been called a “VR pioneer” by MovieMaker and Entrepreneur magazines. His filmmaking career began creating digital video art to accompany Naqoyqatsi, the feature film from Godfrey Reggio, Philip Glass, and Steven Soderbergh. Now based in Los Angeles, Dekker’s projects have been showcased around the world at festivals like Slamdance and Art Basel. His latest works include a 2021 music video for Snowblood’s “I’m Ready” which premiered in Paper Magazine and his animated immersive projection show Joy Ride which recently ended a run at Catalonia Hotels. His immersive music installations have been praised by Blumhouse and other industry heavyweights. His original interactive scripted series The Depths premiered as a featured watch on Sony Smart TVs. His feature film The Arcadian has become an underground favorite after a limited European theatrical run in 2018. In addition to his original work he’s collaborated with legends like Devo, Bootsy Collins, and Disturbed. Dekker was part of the first class of Snap Inc. official augmented reality lens creators. Phantom Astronaut continues to produce live experiences, digital art, and records while pushing the boundaries between mediums.
